Vikings is an exceptional saga. We discover so many endearing and extra characters. One of them is that of Haraldson. An intriguing character that I invite you to discover.
The character of Haraldson is interpreted by Gabriel Byrne in season 1 of Vikings where we see him for the first time in "Heading West", and for the last in "The Ultimate Drakkar". Haraldson is the Jarl of Kattegat. His past as a great warrior earned him his important position. He is the loving and faithful husband of Siggy and had with her a daughter: Thyri and two sons who were murdered.

Although respected for his bravery and solidity as a leader, Haraldson is a very tough man. He is unscrupulous when it comes to his own interests. Like in episode 1 where he condemned to death a man who owned several lands to appropriate them.

Or by marrying his daughter to an old earl for treasures, which revolted his wife. Seeing the success of Ragnar who had made expeditions to the west after he forbade him, Haraldson had made him his enemy and began to persecute him. He confiscated his spoils and killed his followers.

He even went so far as to torture Rollo, Ragnar's brother, in order to find out where he is hiding. Haraldson will fight until his death to keep his glory. He was killed by Ragnar during a duel in episode 6.
