Aelle occupied the King's place in Northumbria. He is 57 years old. He is married to Ealhswith and they had two daughters, Judith and Blaeja and a son, Ecgberht. He has a brother, Aethelwulf and also two grandsons each named Aethelred and Alfred. His daughter Judith is married to the King of Wessex and Mercia, called Aethelwulf. Aelle appears in 12 episodes in the series Vikings . His first appearance is in season one , episode four Justice Is Done . His final appearance is in Season 4 , Episode Eighteen Vengeance .

After the loss of her brother Aethelwulf, Aelle decides to ally with King Ecbert to avenge his death caused by the Viking Ragnar. He declared a merciless war on Ragnar and ended up killing him. Then, Ragnar's son Bjorn avenged his father by inflicting the Blood Eagle's ordeal on him which cost Aelle the death .
This character is played by Ivan Kaye . Born July 1 , 1961 in Northampton, England, of British origin. Ivan Kaye has had an 18-year career in the film industry. He is also known in different films and series, such as in the series The Green Green Grass, EastEnders and in the film Dark Shadows, Layer Cake and Assassination Games.
