Introducing Thyri in the Vikings series
The Viking series has been an invaluable success in the world, it has closely copied the way of life of the Vikings at the time of territorial conquests. Several characters have brought this series to life, and they all have their importance and meanings. Let's see in particular the character Thyri who is a recurring character in the Viking saga.
Who is Tyri?
Originally from Kattegat, Scandinavia, Thyri lives there with her father Jarl Haraldson, her mother Siggy and her two unknown brothers. Her father, who was not really the most exemplary, proposes Thyri in marriage to Rollo, both of whom do not agree and choose to refuse. After being proposed to Rollo, who does not keep his word, the proposal was broken.
Eventually, Thyri got married to Jarl Bjarni, an obese old man whom she met at a big party thrown by her father Jarl Haraldson. She is, in a way, sold by force to Jarl Bjarni for twenty pounds of silver or 9 kg of silver.
When Thyri appears in the series?
Portrayed by actress Elinor Crawley, the character of Thyri appears in the first and second seasons of Viking. She makes her first appearance in the episode "Justice Is Done" and makes her last appearance in the episode "Rebirth". Thyri takes part in 7 episodes of this series with mixed success. After having attended the duel which puts in affront Ragnar and his father Haraldson, she sees with her two eyes the death of her father killed by his adversary. Thyri was freed from the marriage that made him suffer by his mother who kills in front of the crowd, her husband Bjarni.
In season 2 of the series, Thyri dies from the plague. In this much-loved series, Thyri greatly participates and adds emotion and action. Whether you like it or not is up to you. You might also enjoy the other characters in this series, but that's a whole different story.
