Bjarni is married to Thyri, his forced wife. He appears in two episodes of the series. His first appearance is in Season 1, Episode Five The Raid. And his second appearance is in season 1, episode six The Ultimate Drakkar.
In 985, while Bjarni was sailing to find his father, a storm bypassed him to a North American continent. It then turned out that he was the first Icelander to discover this continent. Unfortunately, no one believed him, because he couldn't stay there. After the death of his stepfather, Jarl Haraldson, his wife Siggy manages to kill Bjarni using the knife his daughter gave him.

This character is played by Trevor Cooper. He was born on May 21, 1953, in London, England. He studied law in Kingston and graduated from the University of Warwick. But before becoming an actor, he also taught for two years at London South Bank University. In 1979, he won a Carleton Hobbs award and won his first role in a radio production in 1980. He had a 36-year career in the cinema industry and appeared in several films and series, such as The Whistleblower, Wuthering Heights and in the Call the Midwife series.
