Alfred tells Judith that he spared his brother Æthelred. Judith opposes Æthelred. His sincerity towards Alfred prevented him from being part of the plot. Ivar learns of Harald's defeat and plans to raid Wessex himself. Bjorn is angry about the conversion of Torvi and Ubbe. Gunnhild and Bjorn go north to discuss a settlement with Harald. Then, Gunnhild communicates his attack strategy. Hvitserk finds a merchant and then becomes interested in Buddhism. In Iceland, Helgi returns to the colony in pain, communicating that Eyvind is ill and full of despair. Kjetill chooses to make a rescue descent with Floki. Magnus and Harald take Bjorn in, but Harald finds out that Bjorn and Gunnhild are having a relationship, and he gets angry. Alfred falls into a coma and Judith suspects Æthelred that he is the cause of Alfred's illness. So Judith poisons him to death.
