For his first expedition, Ragnar recruits volunteers to reinforce the Scandinavian armored raids. Supported by Rollo, his brother, and Floki, a shipbuilder expert in civil war, Ragnar goes into battle, but his wife Lagertha reproaches him. A famous Earl Haraldson kills his wife's stalker as well as a blacksmith close to Ragnar.
In Kattegat, Ragnar and his strong teams looted several fortunes after their victory. They each took a looted item and temporarily hid all the remains. In passing, a priest is taken as a slave by Ragnar. This decision seems embarrassing to him, but it is his only way to gather information.
The Vikings followed the instinct of the drakkar to the end of an English village, Northumbria. There they devastated all their possessions while they were in the middle of a high mass. Except for Lagertha's failed rapist whom she later killed, there were few victims. When they arrived at the seaside, mercenaries were waiting for Ragnar and his colleagues for a bloody fight.

Following this confrontation, Haraldson violently attacks Ragnar and his troops. This furious man does not let anyone cross his path. Ragnar's wife, his children and Athelstan managed to escape. But Ragnar is dangerously injured. Fortunately, Athelstan saved him. He then takes refuge under Floki's roof.
The time has come for Ragnar to issue a challenge and the count agrees with him. They settled their dispute in a single, decisive fight. Haraldson is suppressed by Ragnar. Svein is dead, killed by Rollo and Siggy's son-in-law killed by himself. Ragnar gave a dignified funeral to his former enemy Earl.

Noting the return of the Vikings, the king's brother Aëlle is in command of an attack prepared during the night against Ragnar. By experience, the king's brother is captured by Ragnar. He agrees to free him on condition that a ransom worth 2000 pounds is delivered to him. Unfortunately, Lagertha has had a miscarriage and is having trouble recovering. To comfort themselves, Ragnar, his wife and Athelstan make a traditional pilgrimage to honor the gods.
King Horik orders Ragnar to gather a troop to come to Gotaland. The mission is to make peace with the local chief, Jarl Borg. Curious about Ragnar's reputation, Jarl and the king want to become his new allies. What happens next?
