The story takes us to the end of the eighth century AD. Ragnar Lothbrok, both a farmer and a fierce warrior is the main character. He has a son called Bjorn and a daughter. Father and son along with Ragnar's brother Rollo and Count Haraldson's men of war prepare for another invasion. This count wants to head towards the side where the sun rises. On the other hand, Ragnar has a longship built to go in another direction. Before that, he tries to persuade the local lord to go west to find new political communities to plunder.
