Viking God : List By Domain - War - Sea - Death

In the pantheon of Scandinavian mythology there are many gods. It is difficult to say the exact number since there are so many.

For the Nordic people, the Gods are divided into two well-distinguished large clans: the Æsir, connected to chaos and war, and the Vanir, connected to nature and fertility.

The Norse Gods are frequently associated with the Jötnar or the Giants. We are going to zoom in on the most famous Viking Gods.

ODIN

FRIGG

TÝR

This is the original God of war and peace. He only has one hand because the other was devoured by the sneaky wolf Fenrir. Tyr is keenly involved in justice and fair dealing, which is why he is considered the God of Peace. To know more about Thyr.

LOKI

Loki is one of the sons of Odin. He is the god of trickery and Mischief, he is also the Father of Monsters. Moreover, it is Loki who created the vicious wolf Fenrir, the serpent Jörmungandr as well as the eight-legged horse Sleipnir which was that of Odin.

BALDR AND HÖÐR

Baldr and Hödr are twin brothers. The first is the God of Light and Brightness, while the other is the God of Darkness.

VIDAR

Son of Odin and the JötunnGrid, Vidar is the second strongest god of the Æsir after his brother Thor. Despite his strength and invaluable power, Vidar is a peaceful God and he loves silence. To learn more about vidar.

IÐUNN

Having a name that clearly means 'rejuvenate', Iðunn is unsurprisingly the goddess of youth. It is she who distributes the fruit giving the Nordic Gods their longevity.

NORTH

Njord is the great and mighty god of wind, sailors, coasts, inland waters and marine wealth, but he is not the god of the sea. Njord united with his sister Nerthus to have his two children: Freyr and Freyja.

FREYR AND FREYJA

HEL
