Aslaug was Brynhildr's daughter, so she was a princess. She is known as the Shield Maiden. Her father and mother died before she knew them. She has acquired social experiences and a refinement superior to warrior skills.
One day, Ragnar's men spy on Aslaug and her warriors bathing. Aslaug summons their leader to fix the incident. This is how she meets Ragnar and she becomes his wife. Later, she becomes pregnant and ends up moving to Kattegat. Ragnar refuses to drive her out and accepts her into his home. By the way, Lagertha will give birth to four sons and will become queen of Kattegat when Ragnar becomes king.

When Ragnar is away, Aslaug rules Kattegat where she expands it into a thriving trading port. Unfortunately for Aslaug, she has an adversary in her relationship with Ragnar. She must then face this ordeal. This leads to jealousy towards Lagertha. Years pass and Lagertha takes revenge on Aslaug by killing her and retaking Kattegat.

Most fans consider Aslaug a villain. She foreknew things, because she sees visions. As time progresses, she becomes vindictive and mean. She stops taking care of her children and wishes to rule alone without Ragnar. "I never liked him as a character." "Aslaug is only acting to get Lagertha to leave Ragnar and that's the worst part of the show so far." These are a few examples of public opinion showing Aslaug's misunderstanding.

Some fans didn't think Aslaug deserved to die. "She did not deserve such an end after surrendering in a peaceful manner." Others think otherwise especially after seeing him push Ragnar to part ways with Lagertha. “She knew her future lover was a married man before she met him”

A little later, Aslaug decided to save Ivar when Ragnar left him to die. Many think she is right to do so since he is her son. In sum, Queen Aslaug is a unique character in the Vikings series. While some don't like her, a lot of fans love her.
