Ragnar, who is now king, leads his men towards Wessex. He thinks of building a colony there and claiming his lands from the king. If he helps Princess Kwenthrith to bring back the kingdom of Mercie, King Ecbert promises to give him what he wants. But Lagertha refuses this idea. Furious, Lagertha accepts that Edbhi be captured by her close friend Kalf. Ragnar and his men act with eagerness to assault Burgred, the younger brother of Princess Kwenthrith. Pursued by the king of the Vikings, the latter chooses to flee when he sees the ships full of armies.

Bjorn asks his fiancée to marry him. At the same time, King Ecbert is courting Lagertha. Ragnar has a burning desire to make conquests. He has a thirst for more, after having gone back to the shores of Wessex to legitimize the lands promised by King Ecbert. He wants to compete with the regime of Charlemagne. After Siggy, Aslaug, Elgha's bizarre dream, the figure from their nightmare finally arrives in the village and is named Harbard.
Aslaug agrees to give his insurance to Harbard who claims to have supernatural powers to calm the suffering of his son, Ivar the boneless. At the same time, Legertha gives herself intimately to king Ecbert. Ragnar wants to conquer Paris, a political community that fascinates him. But he is forced to see Hedeby, suspected by Lagertha who realizes that she has been stripped of her title and lands. Princess Kwenthrith poisons her brother to be the only heir to the throne. By the way, Rolle is frightened to learn what has happened to Siggy.

Ragnar gathers the Vikings of Denmark to take over Paris. Stender, a farmer, informs him of important ideas. Ragnar's ships arrive in Paris which causes terror among the inhabitants. However, Emperor Charles does not want to leave the city since Count Odo maintains the defense of Paris. The latter is confident to win by showing great courage. The Viking battalion submits a siege to the city of Paris and decides to use all means to enter it. Although they were ready for anything, the Vikings were unable to penetrate the city even with their strategic plans and skilful procedures. As a result of this failure, Ragnar is seriously wounded. Losing his title of king of the Vikings, Ragnar does not give up on dominating Paris due to this lack of success. Count Odo managed to persuade Ragnar to enter into talks to raise his stakes. Ragnar, consented to the negotiation for the price of getting several tribes.
