Summary of the season
Two messengers from Sovereign Harald land in Kattegat and bring disturbing news to Bjorn. Kjetill needs men ready to return with him to the Land of Ice. Bjorn finally decides to rescue Harald imprisoned by King Olaf . He asks his younger brother, Ubbe, to take charge of the city of Kattegat during his absence.
Meanwhile, Prince Oleg is pulling out all the stops to become and remain the one and only ruler. Ivar, in exile, works on his relationship with him and is still very surprised, if not shocked by the violence and sadism shown by the young man who has become completely impossible to control.
As for Lagherta, she has turned the page on her past as a warrior. Now far from public life, she now leads a calm and peaceful life on her farm. Obviously, she does not seem to suspect the danger that awaits her at the end of the corridor.
For his part, Hvitserk can no longer really control himself in the face of his alcohol addiction and, unsurprisingly, reason seems to be gradually divorcing him.
In all in this episode, the character of Olaf and his journey deserves special attention. Her relationship with Ivar will certainly form the heart of this episode which, moreover, presents the warrior, if not the ex-warrior, Lagertha under a personality that is more fragile than what we usually know of her.
