After a tough fight, Bjorn ends up retaking Kattegat. Now in power, he wants a new era to begin for the city. He finds himself faced with the need to make some difficult decisions . He wonders what kind of king he must be, after the reign of terror established by Ivar, his tyrannical brother. Should he execute Ivar's relatives? Should he rather exile them? Should he agree or not to fly to the aid of Harald whom Olaf has retained?
Bjorn decides to ask his family for help. Unfortunately, he will not be able to benefit from the assistance of the formidable Lagherta. She has indeed decided to move away from public life by retiring to a farm. Bjorn also cannot rely on Ubbe , his younger brother. Like his father, Ragnar, Ubbe wants to get away and explore the world.
