runes
Today, several irresistible Viking designs are designed with runes. But do you know what runes are? These are letters forming the Nordic alphabet and which nevertheless have their own meaning. However, the Nordics used more oral communication.
The runic alphabet, also called futhark, is therefore used as Viking symbols engraved in pieces of wood, stone or metal, on amulets, talismans, beads, etc. for purposes of magic or clairvoyance, or to honor the memory of departed heroes . Even today, the futhark is still inscribed on modern Viking jewelry.

The valknut or the knot of occi
The valknut comes in the form of three interlocking triangles. This triple interconnected pattern carries symbolism relating to power and magic. On the other hand, since the figure is composed of 3 triangles and 9 vertices, many associate it with the 9 worlds of Norse mythology.
Currently considered a symbol of courage and bravery, the valknut was used to signify the fulfillment of destiny by Viking warriors killed in battle, since according to the Viking people the souls of warriors who died in battle live eternally in Valhalla, the paradise of the Vikings.

The Ægishjálmur or Helm of Terror
Mysterious and powerful, the Helm of Terror was a protection that caused the defeat of the enemies of the Viking warriors who could then sow terror on the battlefields. This symbol of invincibility is composed of a circle inside which are eight arms representing eight runes, in particular the runes of Algiz and Elhaz, sign of the warrior and protection.
Painted on the forehead of the warrior in the image of a third eye, the power of this object focused on the pineal glands and protects the whole of the body, the spirit and the thought of its bearer. The enemy was thus subdued. Even today, we see the aegishjalmur motif on tattoos, jewelry, clothing, etc.

The Mjolnir or the mighty hammer of Thor
Designed based on a magic metal capable of absorbing enchantments, the Mjolnir is a rather atypical hammer . With runic inscriptions, it is composed of a head made in uru and a short handle ending in a small strap which ensures its maintenance.
The Mjolnir is the weapon of war of the god Thor, whom old Scandinavian writings present as the god of thunder and war and the most powerful of the warrior gods. He uses this hammer to fight the forces of evil, to master the elements of nature, but also to restore life, bless births, marriages, etc. The Mjolnir pattern therefore symbolizes protection, defense and security.

The Vegvisir compass, the Viking compass for navigation
Basically, the word Vegvisir means "that which indicates the way". Graphically, the Vegvisir is very similar to the aegishjalmur, except for its arms which are clearly distinguishable from that of the aegishjalmur. Its arms represent the cardinal and intercadinal directions . Regularly used by the Vikings, this spiritual compass served as protection against the risk of loss at sea and acted as a tracking device.
On a symbolic level, the Vegvisir served as a guide in decision-making and gives its wearer the assurance of finding his way and staying the course regardless of the twists and turns that his life may take.
